Software Engineer (Systems) ResponsibilitiesResearch, design, develop, build and test software applications or systems for various mobile software servicesBuild new features and improve existing productsWork on problems of moderate scopePush code, drive the development of the systems behind our products, and build features in mobile applications that reach billions of people, build high volume features, and be a part of a team to connect people around the globeImplement custom native user interfaces using the latest Android programming techniques and development toolsDevelop a strong understanding of relevant product area, codebase, and/or systemsDemonstrate proficiency in data analysis, programming and software engineeringProduce high quality code with good test coverage, using modern abstractions and frameworksReceive general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments, work independently, use available resources to get unblocked, and complete tasks on-schedule by exercising strong judgment and problem solving skillsMaster internal development standards from developing to releasing code in order to take on tasks and projects with increasing levels of complexityActively seek and give feedback in alignment with company Performance PhilosophyMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field and completion of a university-level course, research project, or internship involving the following:

Coding in C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or JavaScript2.
Python, PHP, or Haskell3.
Relational databases and SQL4.
Software development tools:
Code editors (VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)5.
Building highly-scalable performant solutions6.
Building large-scale infrastructure applications7.
Linux, UNIX, or other nix-like OS as evidenced by file manipulation, advanced commands, and shell scripting8.
Data processing, programming languages, databases, networking, operating systems, computer graphics, or human-computer interaction9.
Applying algorithms and core computer science concepts to real world systems as evidenced by recognizing and matching patterns from different areas of computer science in production systems10.
Designing and completing medium to large software features independently without guidance11.
Experience owning a particular software component, feature, or systemand 12.
Design scalable distributed systems with established partition tolerance, consistency, and availability guarantees.

Object-oriented software development14.
Building interfaces for Android applications 15.
Building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing techniques16.
Multithreading programming and mobile memory management17.
One of the following programming languages:
