Big Data Architect

Develop and maintain the Big Data architecture and scalable reporting infrastructure that drives core analytics platform
Identify bottlenecks, failure points and performance characteristics on existing infrastructure
Architect scalable and efficient data pipeline and data processing methods
Process, warehouse and analyze terabytes of incoming data streams
Stay ahead of the technology curve and make recommendations about technologies to build current and future products
Work with the product management team and senior management to define the data analytics platform strategy
Conduct code reviews, advises on engineering best practices, development environments and processes
Our Ideal Candidate has:
Strong Columnar Database expertise (Vertica, Redshift or equivalent)
Excellent data modeling skills
Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions
Expertise in BI tools, platforms and trends
Hands-on experience with large scale Big Data environments, capacity planning, performance tuning and monitoring
Experience with High performance computing, in-memory DB, caching optimization, compression techniques, cluster management, etc
Experience designing and using real time exploratory analytics
Provide leadership and mentorship to developers and testers
Ability to work with tough deadlines and challenging problems
Strong communication, partnership and self-management skills. You will need to lead this effort and work with multiple engineering teams and product teams.
Passion for working with big data, with focus on scalability and simplicity.
Experience with Agile development teams and good inter-personal skills.
Nice-to-haves include
Polyglot chops: we code in Python, Java, Erlang, and C. What languages are in your tool belt?
Knowing how and when to use (and not to use) commercial, open source tools and technologies
A strong distaste for SPOF and heartfelt love of automation.
Knowledge of Real Time Analytics and Systems such as Shark, Storm.
Knowledge of Hadoop and Hive
