As an Environmental Protection Specialist within the Office of Management Services, Environmental Management Branch, some of your specific duties will include:
Serving as a technical authority for environmental regulatory compliance and providing expertise and advise to the Bureau management, field managers and employees regarding environmental regulatory requirements and on local and generic issues applicable to USGS installations. Providing technical expertise on development and maintenance of Emergency Management Systems (EMS) and providing technical assistance and interpretive guidance to the field. Conducting environmental assessments and providing recommendations of Bureau facilities to ensure environmental compliance and EMS conformance. Administering Environmental Abatement System. Planning and developing environmental training program, delivering presentations, and preparing briefing materials for Bureau offices on environmental issues. In order to qualify for the GS-12 level, you must meet the specialized experience requirements listed below:
One year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. Examples of GS-11 level work may include:
1) implementing or evaluating environmental programs and activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations; 2) advising organizations on environmental protection issues; 3) accomplishing work processes and operations in an environmental organization in order to effectively accomplish projects; 4) producing short-term term plans, and processes related to environmental compliance. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
